New 3D Starter Kit & 3D TV Bundle News
Feb 2011 - Mitsubishi have announced a new 3D starter pack - the Mitsubishi 3DC-100S - that lets both Mitsubishi and Samsung 3D TV owners turn their displays into ready for action 3DTVs, providing the Samsung sets use 3D ready DLP technology. Samsung plasma 3D TV models are not compatible.
The starter kit bundle is initially priced at $449.99 and comes with two pairs of active shutter glasses, a 3D emitter, a 3D adapter with remote, an HDMI cable and a 3D Blu-ray which includes trailers of A Christmas Carol 3D, Alice in Wonderland 3D and Toy Story 3. Everything you need to be able to watch 3D content, either on Blu Ray or programmes aired on 3D TV networks or 3D TV channels.
Mitsubishi noted that it has not tested the kit on all Samsung 3D-ready DLP models, and that the kit is not compatible with Samsung 3D-ready plasmas.

If you're confused about 3D TV technology in general and what's needed to get the best from the wide range of 3D TVs that are available - but are still keen to get involved and take a look at what's causing all the interest - then selecting a 3D starter kit or choosing one of the 3D TV bundles might be the right answer.
Buying a 3D starter kit gets you the chance to pick up all the elements needed to watch 3D content, from movies on 3D Blu Ray and 3D DVD right through to programmes aired on any of the 3D TV networks.
Convenience and cost effectiveness is the name of the game, and each of the major 3D TV manufacturers cater for this by putting together these 3D TV bundles or a 3D starter kit that makes it easier for buyers to try out their technology.
So, what does a 3D starter kit contain? This varies between different manufacturers, but a starter kit normally includes a model from their 3D TV range, one or more pairs of 3D glasses, and sometimes additional accessories such as a well known 3D movie, or connectors such as HDMI cables and 3D adaptors depending on whether the TV is full 3D or 3D ready. To complete the package you'll probably need to buy a 3D Blu Ray player separately, though there are some 3D bundles where the Blu Ray is included as well.
The issue of 3D glasses is particularly important, with active shutter glasses being an expensive purchase, and the starter kit is a good way of getting extra pairs and being sure they're going to work with your model of 3D TV.
To summarise, using a 3D TV starter kit is the perfect way to try out 3D TV technology. If you decide to buy from a respected supplier such as Amazon, then you'll always get the option to return goods if they don't work out for you.
